CHERYL BURNETT

Financial Management Partnerships/Fundraising

My name is Cheryl. I am a dedicated mother, goal-oriented student, and passionate community leader. I have a 3-year Business Administration Degree in Accounting from Algonquin College and am currently a student in the Event Management Graduate Program. My children are what motivates and drives me to always learning and becoming a better person. I am very involved in my community and do my best to look out for all my neighbors. I initiated engagement within my community 3 years ago, by organizing a community tenant’s circle, so that our community is able to come together. Through the tenant’s circle, I have organized multiple events with the number of attendees ranging from 60 – 200 people. I was also able to build and start a community garden project with the help of my landlord Ottawa Community Housing. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been unable to host any larger community events. However, I organized a reverse trick-or-treating initiative and am currently organizing a holiday hamper program for the tenants within my neighborhood. I am really excited to be a student in this program and am thrilled to be able to be a part of this event for such a deserving charity. I am confident that the skills I am learning now will help me find a career with an organization that I can be truly passionate about.
